Catholic High School Students Earn Superintendent Summa Scholar Awards

The requirements to earn a Superintendent Summa Scholar Award are rigorous to say the least. Each student must maintain an overall 4.3 grade point average or a 98 percent average during his/her high school career i toms outlet online ncluding the first two quarters of twelfth grade. Yet despite these stringent criteria, thirty seven students from eight of the Catholic High Schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford were able to achieve this outstanding level of academic excellence. Six area high school seniors received DAR Good Citizen Awards from Orford parish Pitkin Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Honored were: Joe Murphy, Howell Cheney Tech; Robert Munroe, Bolton High School; Joshua Essick, Manchester High School; Emma Richard, South Windsor High School; Rachel Forte, East Hartford High School; aige Gorman, East Catholic High School. Each student received a certificate, pin and a monetary gift from the Chapter. This scholarship will allow James Mello to study the Turkish language in Bursa, Turkey for six weeks this summer. Placement for this program is highly competitive amongst high school students from around the country. James will be residing w toms outlet online ith a host family during his time in Turkey. In addition, outstanding soloist awards were presented to Senior Blaine Callahan and Junior Tim Kaseta. The entire saxophone section was presented with the Most Outstanding Section for the entire festival. Jonathan has been active in scouting since fifth grade. He joined Troop 880 in the fall of 2009 as he was entering eighth grade. While on his journey to become an Eagle Scout, Jonathan earned 21 merit badges and served in many l toms outlet online eadership roles. Burr Elementary School in Hartford.
